This doll belonged to my great grandmother Ida Witt. I am 56 years old. It was in her kitchen for as long as I can remember and it was old then. My dad and aunt say the same. According to older relatives, she was married in the mid 1800\'s and received it as a wedding gift.
It is an amazing piece. The sheen on the black satin face, the hand stitched features, the details on the dress are just exquisite. The tiny little hand stitches that attach the lace are just perfect. Other parts are done by sewing machine, but that as well would have been vintage lol. It is a work of art and a piece of history.
Once upon a time she wore a kerchief, hence the stitches on her head. It did not survive.
