Howard Sochurek joined Life Magazine in 1950 and photographed the Whole World. He worked for Life for two decades. In Korea, he parachuted behind enemy lines to photograph American troops in combat. In Vietnam, he covered the fall of the French garrison at Dien Bien Phu.
Sochurek won many awards and prizes in his lifetime. He was awarded a Neiman fellowship to study at Harvard University. He won the first Robert Capa Gold Medal awarded in 1955.
He became a freelance photographer in 1970 and was one of the first to use a computer to color and manipulate photographs and other images. Photos for Condition and Details - Feel free to ask questions.
