This is a vintage bronze Geschutzt walnut nutcracker. The nutcracker is German made and of the Vienna Bronze style.The bottom is marked GES Geschutzt and the number 72. Geschutzt is a German term indicating a patent.This nutcracker is of the Frank Bergman style but I do not believe it is from the turn of the century and probably was produced in the 1930s or mid 1950s. The inner turn shaft is a contrasting brass while the outer walnut shell has has a great bronze patina. The nutcracker measures 1 and 1/2 inches wide and 4 and 1/2 inches tall with the handle fully extended. This is a great vintage piece and fine example of metal work from a bygone era.
