Carved wooden owl signed by the artist CM Copeland of Georgia. This talented artist gave this work of art to Representative Dawson Mathis, as written on the bottom of the owl. Dawson Mathis served as a Democrat from 1971-1981 in the US Congress. Sculpture measures 10\" high and 4\" across the base. Beautiful marbling of the wood grain. The bottom inscription says: By C M Copeland to Congressman Mathis From His Valdosta Lowndes County Friends 1971.
