It is carved from a solid block of wood and has wonderful detail. I acquired it from an estate sale and one of the owners explained they bought it while on vacation in Spain many years ago (1970\'s I believe). While traveling in Spain they came across the artist carving wooden horses for a local carousel and asked if they could buy one. He mounted it on a standfor them and they had it shipped home. It is a magnificent horse and it is strong enough to hold the weight of an average person. It is in good condition with minor nicks to the paint here and there.
