This item was made to be used as a fire place starter. The pot would hold kerosene and the porous ceramic end of want would soak up this fuel when left in pot. You would light the wand in place in fireplace wood and it would burn up to 10 minutes and start your fire. This item may no longer be considered safe to use in side your home and may not meet current government safety standards. There are videos on You Tube which shows this type of item in use.
