DescriptionH. G. Long & Company were Sheffield cutlers that could trace their origins back to 1768. This early Champagne knife has an excellent corkscrew, a cork gripper/foil cutter and two blades.
The main blade has been snapped at some point in its history and has been re-shaped. It still shows a stamp on the face of the blade reading “ Granted xxxxxxxx Cutlers Company 1768” along with the company’s Crossed Daggers trademark.
The tangs of both blades are stamped “H. G. Long & Co Sheffield” along with the Crossed Daggers trademark. The cork gripper/foil cutter has an identical stamp. The scales appear to be nickel silver.
The knife measures 4 inches in the closed position. Apart from the damage to the main blade the knife is in excellent condition.
