Vintage Lac Burgaute Pomegranate Shaped Box, Chinese Origin, Late 20th Century.

We are pleased to be able to offer this lovely LacBurgautefruit shaped box from the personal collection of our friend who has traveled in Asia during the early 1970\'s-80\'s. It was purchased in Beijing in 1988.

The box is of two pieces, the top piece being highlydecorated with tiny multi-coloredcutpieces of iridescent mother of pearl shellcircles tosimulate the opened fruit exposing the sweetberries within. This issurrounded by a band of triangular shaped mop border. Tiny pieces of brass colored metal can be found adding to this decorative background as borders,box edges and framing the vignettes. This brass colored metal also forms the stems of the leaves. Difficult to really describe, so please study the photographs for more details. Truly a work ofartistic merit for the serious collector!The top fits comfortably in place with the bottom portion. A small lip surrounding thefruti shape bottomholds the lid firmly in place.

Measurements: Thefruit shaped box measures approximately2 1/2 inches from top to bottom of the fruit and approximately 1 1/4inchesin height from the table. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: The box has been displayed in a small curio cabinet since its purchase. Under close examination, we found NO Chips, Cracks, Scratches, Dings, Nicks or Repairs or Restorations. It has a few faint lines on the bottom from moving about now and then, but that seems to be it! All the mother of pearl pieces appear to be intact. Nothing is missing! We are certain you will be pleased with this once you have it in your hands!!!
