SET OF 3 CUPS AND SAUCERS

CPO = CENTRAL PURCHASING OFFICE - THIS MARK WAS USED ON WARES MADE FOR SALE TO AMERICAN SOLDIERS STATIONED ON BASES IN JAPAN. ACCORDING TO GOTHEBORG THEY WERE PRODUCED IN THE KUTANI REGION 1945 - 1960s

BEAUTIFULLY HANDPAINTED WITH PHEASANTS, SONGBIRDS AND FLOWERS. THE BIRDS HAVE GREAT DETAIL AND THE FLORAL PAINTING ADDS A GREAT POP OF COLOR. THE CUPS AND SAUCERS ARE RIMMED WITH A RICH COPPERY RED HIGHLIGHTED WITH VERY FINE DETAILED GOLD GILT. THE GOLD GILT LEAVES AND HIGHLIGHTS ADD A WONDERFUL ROYAL AIR TO THIS SET.

MEASUREMENTS: CUPS - 2 1/2\" X 3 1/2\" DIAMETER SAUCERS - 5 1/2\" DIAMETER
CONDITION: VERY GOOD - NORMAL WEAR - THERE ARE TINY ROUGH PLACES ON THE CUP RIMS BUT I THINK IT IS A RESULT OF THE GOLD GILT PATTERN - SMALL BLACK SPOTS IN THE PORCELAIN -THERE MAY BE SOME MINOR WEAR TO THE DECORATION ON THE SAUCERS WHERE THE CUPS SIT BUT WHAT SHOWS IN THE PICTURES I THINK IS MOSTLY REFLECTION - FLAW IN THE PORCELAIN ON THE INSIDE BOTTOM OF ONE CUP WHICH ORIGINAL TO THE PIECE - PLEASE SEE PICTURES AS THEY ARE CONSIDERED PART OF THE CONDITION DESCRIPTION
