Hello today we have an extremely rare and mysterious Mandolin. Rumors say only 9 were made others say maybe 18. Either way this one is slightly different than any of the other couple that have surfaced on the internet. One being sold on a boutique site, and the other being sold on Reverb. The differences are: One, the scroll isn\'t cut quite as deep on this as the others. Two, the stripe in the middle of the fret board is black instead of white. Three (the most curious), it has an adjustable truss rod. The blue book of mandolins says that only Gibson\'s had adjustable truss rods, and that this was the main difference between them and the Cromwell line. However this one has a Gibson style adjustable truss rod. I believe this may even be a proof or experiment when beginning to launch this economy line of mandolins for Gibson. The reason they didn\'t continue this model or style was that its still wasn\'t cheap enough so it was abandoned soon after it was started. Cromwell continued into the 40\'s making a-style mandolins and guitars. Although I have never found another f-style mandolin made by Cromwell. This mandolin is believed to have been made in Kalamazoo Michigan at the Gibson Factory in the mid 1930\'s. Even Gibson says they have no records of these left, only that the model is gm-6 and its rare. Experts I have asked say they have never seen one and have no info on this mysterious instrument. It does however come with a hard case as pictured that seems to be fitting of a Gibson factory case from that time period. This is an extremely cool and interesting mandolin.
