We have a vintage Delano Co. beaver fur top hat with white silk lining and original leather case up for sale. The hat was made in Boston circa 1920. It was sold by Knox in New York where it was bought by Rogers C. Dunn, assistant to Herbert Hoover - the U.S. Secretary of Commerce at the time.It is nearly identical to President Franklin D. Roosevelt\'s inaugural top hat. The hat is in good condition and the leather case is in poor condition due to time in storage.
Features:
• Vintage / antique beaver fur and silk top hat with leather case
• Made in Boston by the Delano Hat Company - It was sold in New York by Knox
• Hat has approximately 23\" crown circumference and is 6\" high from the front brim to the top of the hat
• Made of beaver fur with a felt band around the bottom and a white silk lining inside
• Gold seal and brand on the top inside which reads: \"Knox 5th Ave, New York Extra Quality\"
• Original leather storage case with padded insert (hat is stored upside down)
• Lock reads: \"EAGLE LOCK CO. (line break) TERRYVILLE CONN, U.S.A.\"
• Lock is unlocked. There is no key for the lock, but the securing mechanism works
• Case is approximately 14\" x 13\" x 10\" with a handle on top and securing strap
• The top of the case is marked with a label reading \"Rogers Dunn\"
• The hat was bought circa 1920
