Vintage Depression Glass Clear Vitex-Glas Three Star Fruit & Cake Knife Measurements: 9 1/8\" long x 1 3/8\" wide handle (at widest point) x 1 1/2\" wide (at widest point) blade.
Marking: The knife is marked \"MADE IN U.S.A.\" on one side near handle and \"PAT. PEND\" and \"S1-F1\" on the other side in raised non-colored letters.
Use: Stainless steel usage was widely developed during WWII. I can remember my Mother (1915-1998) telling me how she and her sisters had to clean all the non-stainless steel kitchen knives every night with abrasive cleanser (kitchen cleanser like Comet or Ajax) to remove the food stains.
Condition: This Depression Era clear glass knife is in very good condition. There is one nick and no flakes on the cutting edge or elsewhere The glass is still clear and unstained and the Three Star design is easily visible. There are little or no use marks and the surface is still shiny and unworn. The original box is included, however it is worn and has fallen partially apart, but legible.
