The scale is marked DETECTO, Jacobs Bros. Inc. New York. It shows a patent date of July 10,1917. It is functioning well and the glass cover is in tact. The rim around the cover hasa few scratches and dings. The base measures roughly 10\" X 7\" and it weighs over 21 pounds. It has not be cleaned.
In mostcircumstances I do not clean or polish any of my sale items. Too manycollectors prefer to do the cleaning themselves while others prefer the wornlook or a nicely aged patina.
