Vintage Electro-voice RE15 Microphone - new foam!

If you are looking at this you are probably well aware that this is the mic used in the studio and/or live by artists like Elvis, Dolly Parton and The Rolling Stones to name a few.

The lack of proximity effect and off axis coloration, as well as a fairly flat frequency response has made this mic very popular with recording engineers and they are getting harder to come by. It is hands down my personal favorite for vocals and guitar cabs. I wouldn’t be selling it, but I have three and I only need two!

I purchased this mic 14 years ago from an seller in Alaska. I have always taken good care of it and stored it when not in use. Mic has strong output and bass tilt switch works flawlessly.

The foam underneath the windscreen was recently replaced with foam from Electro-voice. Since the RE15 has been long out of production, the original part number for RE15 foam is no longer available. EV 635a foam is still available and fits quite nicely.

The date code on the microphone is 8020, which means 20th week of 1980. This may be the manufacture date, but i was informed by EV that this could also be the last date of service. Evidently they get a new date code sticker when repaired/cleaned/re-foamed.
