This gorgeous hand painted Belgian majolica ewer pitcher vase was made by Hubert Bequet in Quaregnon, Belgium. The pattern is called “Anemone”, a floral design done in rose pink, white, blue, green, yellow with a black ribbon. The turquoise or teal blue majolica ewer has lots of gleaming gold leaf gilding, which appears to be protected under glaze. The backside contains floral relief design only, without painted details. Marked with Gold Stamp - \'Made in Belgium\' \'H BEQUET QUAREGNON\' Number 138 marked on the bottom which makes this an early Mid-Century porcelain piece.Measures 9\" tall and about 8 1/2\" wide, with a 4 5/8\" base by about 2\" wide. Offered as is as found... This beautiful porcelain piece is is in excellent condition, I did not find any bites or chips or cracks. There is a slight blue discoloration on one lower area and this was probably how it was painted- these Bequet pieces were all handpainted. BACKGROUND RESEARCH: Hubert Bequet opened his own ceramics production house in 1934 in Quaregnon, Belgium. The factory reached the pinnacle of success in 1963 with 150 workers, but eventually closed its doors in April 1985. Early pieces were either unsigned or imprinted with Belgium and a model number. Later pieces are marked with Made In Belgium H. Bequet Quaregnon. Ships with in US only.
