Found at an estatesale: here is aantique hand painted majolica match safe with striker, featuring an exotic mid-Eastern woman intraditional garb, sitting on an oriental rug. She leans on a largestorage jar by her side (to hold matches) and behind her a \"brick\" structure designed to hold smoking materials ormatches. Thestriker is on the left side of the piece. The underside has some paintednumbers and incised or stamped numbers....but maker is otherwise unknown.CONDITION: very good for age, but not perfect: there is a small chipin the back corner of the \"brick\", 1/2\" from the rim. There is also what is sort of like a hairline crack on the left side of the lady\'s pink skirt, but I think this is a manufacturing issue, not a crack. Rub to surface paint on left arm.
