Bottom of the bottle has CHANEL FRANCE molded into the glass the letters are raised to the touch. (Fake bottles of Chanel do not have this feature)

The word \"EXTRAIT\" on the box was used from 1951 to 1970

After 1970 Chanel use the word \"Perfume\" through 1987.

In 1988 until present Chanel use the word \"Parfum\" on their boxes.

The 1 oz bottle

stands 3\" tall by 2\" wide

The \"Baudruchage\" sealing technique is reserved for Chanel No. 5 perfumes, extraits and parfums, where the bottles are sealed by hand.

It consists of placing a fine membrane of natural origin, called baudruche, over the neck of a bottle and holding it in place with two rows of black cotton thread. This creates an airtight seal for the bottle.

Baudruchage is one of the most traditional and unique perfumery techniques for sealing perfume bottles. Since it is done by hand, one bottle at a time, few perfume houses resort to this labor intensive sealing method. Chanel, Guerlain, and Jean Patou* still employ it for the most precious item in their collections–the extrait de parfum.

Craftsman used a fine membrane of animal origin, a baudruche, to protect the liquid inside the glass bottles.
