Found at a flea market (brocante) in France, a very rare and unique vintage kidney-shaped galvanized zincfishing bait or fish carrier/creel; circa 1900-1930. Original leather shoulder strap is in great condition! Shape made it comfortable for the creel to be carried against the body on long walks through the woods to the lake or pond. Tabs on sides to keep leather strap attached to creel. Round lid to creel intact; holes for fresh air. These type of galvanized zinc creels/bait or fish carriers were used by French fishermen instead of the more common wicker creels or metal bait buckets usedin the USA. A fun collectible for thefisherman! Add to your collection of vintage fishing gear! Measures 9 inches by 4.5 inches; 8.5 inches tall overall. Water tight and great weathered and aged patina!
