This is a full size Violin, made in the early 1900s in Chicago Illinois. The violin is labeled \" No.1264 Ulbrich Tatter Patented Aug 25 1908\" The top is made from small pieces of straight grained spruce , and has a burgundy colored varnish. The Violin Makers of the United States , by Thomas James Wenberg. \"Ulbrich -Tatter Violins.Operated in the United States. Original Model with Guarneri- Style- F holes. The top is made of many pieces of wood. Exaggerated bass bar, also used various multiple bass bar configurations. Somewhat Opaque , deep red varnish highly crackeled\". The back is highly flamed maple, and measures 14 inches .The top has a very small repaired crack, above the treble F hole, and a repaired wing crack. The instrument is set up with unknown strings, it sounds very good , with a very interesting tone. Pegs are barely holding they will need replaced , or refitted. The bridge is poorly cut , and the fingerboard is a little low. The long F holes are some of the best looking I have seen, they are hand cut ,and the scroll is also beautifullycarved. It definitely is handmade workmanship. It may need some other set up work , or repair, so it is sold AS IS for a repairman or a collector.
