A very fine example of a German wanderstock (aka hiking stick, walking cane) which is decorated with 20stocknagels (aka badges or medallions).Measures almost 33” in length. I am not sure as to the type of wood, however, it is very hard/sturdy and the graining is beautiful with a warm patina to it.Most wanderstocks are only decorated on the front face of the cane with maybe one or two stocknagels, but this has 20 and they are on both the front and the back. This handsome wanderstock has a pointed metal tip or ferrule for good traction. This shows the wear that is commensurate with usage and age. This came from an elderly woman who moved to the U.S. from Germany many years ago and she brought the cane with her…however, she is gone and the family has since sold off her things. This is a solid wanderstock that is ready to use or display and in very good condition.Comes from a non-smoking household.
