Brushed Aluminum Suitcase

Description: Offering a vintage metal brushed aluminum suitcase by \"Halliburton\". This suitcase was used by only one owner who had his initials, R.W.M. engraved by the handle. It is a nice sturdy suitcase with the latches in working order. There isn\'t a key for the actual lock. Metal plate reads \"HALLIBURTON Reg BB 1737 Los Angeles\". This is a wonderful opportunity to own a unique item. Here is a bit of history...the original ‘Halliburton’ aluminum travel cases were hand made for Erle P. Haliburton’s personal use in 1938. A globetrotting oil field engineer by trade, Halliburton was often disappointed with luggage that failed to protect his wardrobe and documents when exposed to the harsh conditions of extreme dirt, heat and dust. Drawing upon the engineering knowledge of his staff, Halliburton guided the development of the world’s first aluminum cases. These unique cases, equipped with smooth sides and an air-tight sealed gasket kept moisture, dirt and dust out. Friends and business associates soon persuaded Halliburton to make additional cases. As a result, a small factory was opened in Southern California. By the late 1940’s the new cases had attracted customers worldwide. The distinct look and unsurpassed durability attracted European royalty, Hollywood stars and smart travelers searching for the strongest case on the market. The distinguished look and unsurpassed durability of Zero Halliburton cases have lead to unique opportunities for the brand. Over the years their cases have appeared in over 300 films and television shows including Lost, Mission Impossible, Inception, Ocean’s Eleven, Men in Black and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Measurements: Approx. 25.5\" X 18.5\" X 8.5\"

Condition: Good vintage condition. Top and bottom line up well, latches are in good working order. There are some scuffs, scratches and worn areas on the outside. The inside has some stains/waterstains. Zippered compartment inside works perfectly. One of the \"hooks\" which holds the inside \"flap\" on the inside is broken (piece is inside zippered compartment, if you would like to try to repair). Please consider photos for condition.
