This superb 16 ¼” tall early 1900’s hand carved linden wood figure of the Christ Child extending his open arms in welcoming benediction is most likely Italian and measures 6 ½” wide at the arms; 4” x 4 ½” at the base with gilt world hemisphere. The details and finish are simply remarkable overall and the face of the Nino is most memorable, topped with richly carved curly hair. There are no breaks or repairs; you will note very tiny losses to 2 fingertips. The simple oiled surface shows light wear and coloration at the hands and feet from loving devotion as does the very tip of his nose. It is unsigned.
