Description:
A vintage John A. Oya, hand carved milo wood War God perfume case with original vial or bottle, from the Territory of Hawaii. This is thought to be an early example of the War God design by John Oya. The patent for this design was filed for Oya on June 19, 1939, and the patent was granted on September 12, 1939. It may be pre WWII, dating to the very early 1940s. This piece is approximately 5 3/4 inches high by 2 1/4 inches at it\'s widest point by 2 inches at it\'s deepest point. There is a stamp on the bottom which has four lines of information. The first line has 4 words, and although I cannot make out the first word, the last 3 words appear to be War God Design. The second line has the words Milo Wood. The third line has the words DESIGN PATENT, and the fourth line appears to read No: D-116,573 (please see photo). This piece does have it\'s original vial or bottle, which has a small amount of the original perfume still in it. The bottle has two original labels on it. One label appears to read \"Tropic Moonlight Remembrance of Ginger Bottled by John A. Oya & Co. Honolulu, T. H.\" (please see photo). Can\'t make out everything on the second label but it does state 3/8 Fluid oz. or 3 Drams (please see photo). This is a very old vintage piece, and it does show some signs of age patination effects. There are what appear to be some very, very tiny specks of white paint on the piece (please see photos). There is also a few very small, minor nicks in the wood, with most of those being so minor as to not be apparent without closer inspection (please see photos). Overall this item is in very good condition considering it\'s approximate 70 plus years of age. Please see all photos as they are a major part of this items conditional description.
