Vintage Hofner 500/8 archtop hollowbody bass for sale. Blonde finish. Built-in preamp with fuzz switch. Made in West Germany 1970. Serial #51819. This beautiful instrument sounds and feels amazing. I have flatwound strings on it now and the sound is a huge plunk. The craftsmanship that went into building this bass is first-rate, and it is a pleasure to play. There are a couple of little dings here and there (see pics), but overall this bass is in excellent condition. The neck is straight and plays in tune all the way up. There is a fair amount of checking in the laquer, which is standard for a bass of this age. The preamp and fuzz controls work fine and sound awesome, but they are a little scratchy--could probably do with a cleaning. Comes with OHSC. Thanks for looking!
