This old leather hide piece has been in my collection for about 20 years now. I figure it\'s circa about 1940\'s or so. I traded for it, at the village of Hotevilla on the Hopi reservation. I never quite understood exactly; what is was used for? Or, is it a form of tribe art? Anyway, my house is much smaller now and I haven\'t any place to display it. So, it\'s time for this hide piece to find a new home where it can be appreciated again. The hide is smoked tanned and the paints appear to be mineral and milk. Was displayed in my non-smoking home.
