Vintage Horner Tin with Indian Chiefs Smoking Peace Pipe

This highly collectable tin box from Horner is entitled “Smoking the Pipe of Peace.” Three Native American Indian Chiefs are shown smoking the pipe, and the tin dates to the 1940s or 1950s. The colors on the lid art are still quite vibrant, and while there is not much paint loss, there are some small and/or fine scratches on the lid. Once contained confections from Horner’s of England.

The vintage wear and patina includes a few small areas of wear, some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and normal vintage soiling, a few very minor dents and dings, etc. A number of small fine-ish scratches on the lid, with one near the center a bit longer. An area of tape residue on a chief’s headdress, noticeable mainly in the right light. Product sticker is torn, only partially remaining on base. Light patina inside, but there are a couple small early rust spots and some flecked remains of crayons. Some small worn areas and light scuffing and scratching on the bottom. Opens and closes fine.

Again, condition issues of note:

· Several small scratches on lid, most fairly fine, with one scratch a little longer.

· Area of tape residue on the lid, visible mainly in the right light.

· Couple tiny early rust spots inside, along with some tiny crayon flecks.

Approximate size of tin is about 5.25” by 4” at widest points, by about 1.25” tall.

The tin is empty.
