VINTAGE 1959-1960 HAND BLOWN ARCHITECTURAL SCALE COBALT BLUE GLASS DECANTER DESIGNED BY WAYNE HUSTED FOR BLENKO
The featured item represents a hand blown large size glass architectural scale floor decanter by Blenko. The piece measures approximately 27 1/2\" tall, 5 1/4\" across the top and 9 1/2\" bottom.
The decanter comes in a chessman like, baluster shape and is finished in cobalt blue. The base bears the sandblasted Blenko mark. The decanter is model 5929L and was designed by Wayne Husted in 1959. This model was available for 2 years, 1959 and 1960. They varied slightly from year to year and production date. This model was the trademark of the Blenko Museum and is considered their finest design.
The item comes in overall good condition for its age with no cracks, chips or repairs. THERE IS NO STOPPER but they occasionally come for sale online. The decanter appears to have been used as a vase or for similar purpose and needs a good cleaning on the inside as there is some dirt on the bottom and some areas on the walls. There is some some gummy substance that I almost removed but it needs a bit more of cleaning. Aside that, normal vintage and handling wear like small scuffs, marks and scratches. Heavier scratching to the base. Typical scar mark on the bottom. Trapped bubbled and other normal production flaws and imperfections.
The featured blue hand blown architectural decanter by Blenko will make a precious addition to any collection and be a gorgeous display for any floor!
