Inuit Elder Woman Print with Double Mat

Here is a richly detailed limited edition print (14/50) of a female Inuit elder. It was part of a pair of prints in my personal collection. The drawing shows her smiling and garbed a luxurious, traditional fur hood. Her full life and experience are well captured in this expressive rendition.

The drawing and print was created by Italian- Canadian artist Lorenzo Fracchetti, who signs his works as “ F. Lorenzo.” The print was done in 1974 (the reverse side is inscribed in blue handwriting that matches Lorenzo's. It says "Eskimo Women,by F.Lorenzo, 74."

Many of Lorenzo’s prints had larger runs (150 or 235), so these low (50) print editions are special.

The reverse also notes a "name" (for the print??) that is hard to read, but looks like "Detticuti". I know "detti" is "sayings" in Italian, but have no idea what Detticuti is or means, butit is not likely to be the subject's name.

About the Artist

Lorenzo Fracchetti came to Canada from Italy as a young man and soon developed an intense interest in Arctic Canada and northern people. Fracchetti particularly appreciated how the Inuit made use of their spare time over the winter applying their creativity to artisan projects such as sculpture. He sketched them as he watched them work. His black and white drawings effectively capture the more dramatic expressions.

As an artist, Lorenzo Frachetti works in oil, pastel, charcoal, and etching. He currently resides and operates an art studio in Toronto, Ontario.

Condition: This print is in very goodcondition- no tears or marks. Like its partner, it was in a metal frame for many years, with no matting, no dry mount, and away from light. It wasreframedwith this mat and burgundy wood frame about eighteen months ago. It comes from a smokefree house. There issome taperesidue on the reverse side to hold the print in place, but nothing to affect its appearance.

Please note: This sale is for the Fracchetti limited edition print with the double mat, only. It does not include the wood and glass frame (they just help you see how attractive this print looks). It would simply be too expensive and risky to try shipping it with the frame. Plus fit it to your own décor and style preferences.
