Fine pair of rare mid century (1950\'s) modern cast iron duck bookends in a unique finish, madeby Toyo of Japan. Rather than being molded in one piece, these were cast in several pieces, then hand wrought together by master craftsmen. The finish is a combination of several applied colors and gold foil, tosimulate the appearance of aged bronze. Most gold foil items I see from that era, are weathered and rusty. This finish is \"mint\"! The pairare in superb condition. Handmade circa 1950s or 60s! Not repro., (1980\'s made in Taiwan) or new from China like most of the \"antique\" iron on , so you won\'t find another pair for sale! Watched one rusted single example sell for $50 6 months ago! Measure 5\" long x 6\" high x 3\" wide, weigh 2 1/2lbs ea., & retain their \"Original Foundry Labels\"!
