Vintage Knife Store Display Case - RARE & Unique & Large:
$600.00

A very rare and unique vintage KA-BAR knife store display case. The old piece likely came out of an old mercantile in the Butte, Dillon, Whitehall, Montana area as I purchased it at a sale in Whitehall, Montana a few years ago. A really rare old knife display. Knife collector? This then, is for you. It was manufactured many years ago by Regent Specialties Artistic Wood Products of Rochester, N.Y. The company was incorporated in 1922. Standing about 4\'-2\" tall, 24\" wide and 27\" deep at its base, the store display was made for the KA-BAR Knife Company. The display case is impressive as it was designed to show off 25 knives of various sizes. Numerals 1-25 are clearly decaled on the wood backing where each model of knife was held by an elastic band. The back of the display is lockable with a skeleton key. There are 3 top drawers for holding a supply of the smaller knives that were for sale. Larger knives were stored in the bottom 3 shelves - also lockable. I\'m not totally sure what species of wood the display case is made out of, but it is heavy and solid, so I think the bulk of it is maple or birch or walnut. It is too light weight to be pine or fir. Parts appear to be ply. The front clear panel is build so that it can be released from the main display case to change out knives more easily. For security reasons, the panel was built so that it can only be removed from the cabinet (display case) by unlatching 4 latches on the inside of the cabinet--really clever and unique! Being a display for close to 100 years, there are \"character marks\" giving it even more eye appeal. Only the first featured photo shows the display case with the clear panel in place. The other shots have the clear panel removed to show that it can be removed. If you are a knife collector of another make, the display case could be easily converted to show off your knives. I paid close to $450.00 a few years ago and I think I got a very good deal. I am selling it to make a few dollars so I amlisting it at $460.00 as a starting offer. I really like the display so I need to get a minimum of $460.00 (the price of 1 nice knife) in order to let it go. It will make some knife collector very happy!
