This is a LeBlanc Al Hirt model trumpet in very nice condition. The name \"Al Hirt\" is engraved on the receiver. The date of manufacture would probably be in the early 60’s. It’s a players horn with a great sound and all of the features you would expect in a top-of-the-line horn, such as superior fit and finish, smooth action on the 1st and 3rd slides, smooth and easy valve action, etc. The valve casings are numbered “25””26” and “27” and the valves have the corresponding numbers on them and also the serial number of the horn. Originally, these horns had a Al Hirt medallion as part of the bracing just before the tuning slide. However, it was missing when I acquired the horn so I fabricated a substitute “Fleur-de-lis” emblem, which I thought would be appropriate for a French made instrument. I did try and locate a Al Hirt medallion and found one but the seller wanted $150.00 so I passed. LeBlanc did not make trumpets themselves but rather contracted with the famous French maker Courtois to build their brass instruments. If you compare Courtois trumpets to this trumpet you can see some similarities, for example the unique water key brackets. The case isn’t original. When I acquired the horn it did not have a case, however, I had an old case that I restored to use for this horn. The case has new exterior, interior, and hardware. There is also a storage compartment. A Benge 7C mouthpiece is included.NOTE: Two photos added (the last two in the series).
