Item Description

This is a Vintage Martin Handcraft Imperial Committee Model tenor trombone with a serial number of 127527. I believe this serial number puts the manufacture date for this trombone at 1939. It appears to be in decent shape for its age, 76 years. It has the lion engraving on the bell along with some other engraving designs. There is lacquer wear at all of the contact points and a few other places, just for good measure. I noticed a couple of dings along the bell and again at the back of the tuning slide, but nothing unusually large or tremendously obvious. The stockings on the slide tubes may need to be replated. They have a dark, but very smooth, patina, which to me, indicates that the original plating is gone, or at least not as it should be. I must admit that I do not know a lot about trombones. I play trumpet. A side note about the slide. It does slide pretty smooth as is, and falls straight out of your hand if you let go. But don\'t let go, because the slide lock is missing. The cork in the spit valve has been replaced with a new one. The bone looks nice from out in front of the band, and had a very mellow tone when a friend of mine played it. I believe it is a smaller bore trombone which would be great for dance band, jazz, and small combos. I found a nice Conn Case for it here on . It is very sturdy and heavy duty, with a nice plush interior. There is a hole in the plastic on the back of the case at the bell end. It is kept covered with plasitc tape, which keeps the dirt and moisture out, but has been removed so I could show you the hole , then retaped back up. I can include the original case also, if you would like to have it for just the shipping... $30. The original case has that old musty smell to it. This vintage trombone may be used, but it was not abused, and would make a nice addition for any trombone enthusiast. There are 27 pictures altogether. 11 on the listing page and 16 more below.
