PLEASE NOTE: This listing is for a HANK of beads - NOT A FINISHED GARLAND! There are 12 individual strands tied together at the ends so if you take the hank apart to use them please be aware of this. Please also note that these are SMALL beads. I can\'t stress that enough! The last photo shows a strand of beads on a US penny for size reference. Please read the description carefully. If you want SMALL, temporarily strung, never used vintage silver lined blown glass beads in the style of the old mercury glass beads used for decorations then these are for you!These vintage blown glass beads are commonly called mercury glass although mercury has not been used in a long time. They are crystal clear & hollow glass and are silver lined - similar to the beads used in those wonderful vintage holiday garlands. They are hollow because they were blown into molds. Probably made in Japan, these should not be strung on plain cotton or other fabric thread as it may cut through. Because of the way they were made and cut apart the edges can be sharper than on \"regular\" beads. Always used a reinforced stringing material for these types of beads.They are a rectangular shape and measure almost 5mm long x almost 2mm wide. This is a SMALL size bead that is perfect for decorations as well as garlands for miniature & feather trees. You will receive a full, 12 strand hank of approximately 600 beads. The hanks measure approximately 10\" long (beads only) & you will receive a total of approx. 120\". There are 50 beads on each strand & they are mostly bright with little oxidation. Although old they have been stored very carefully & are in very good condition. There will be some broken beads but not very many. A number of years ago we purchased a very large quantity of vintage mercury glass beads. We have a stash of this shape so we are keeping the price down for all our your (early) holiday projects. These SMALL silver beads are ideal for Christmas miniature tree garlands and decorations.We have been selling the finest in antique and vintage beads since 1989.
