Description:Vintage Mexican silver mid-century necklace in a modernist design that is associated with Salvador Teran, this is a version signed by a different maker - a maestro who, though listed, is still among the unidentified contributors to Taxco\'s 20th c. Silver Renaissance. Very carefully made, the necklace employs quite successfully oxidation and layering to add dimension and visual appeal without veering away from modernism\'s love for stylization and abstraction...Size / Weight:16 1/4\" - 16 1/2\" long (wearable); width between 5/8\" and 1/4\"; 60.3 gramsHallmarks/Date: maker\'s initials \"ARS\" as well as \"HECHO EN MEX D.F.\", \"PLATE 0925\" and \"STERLING\"; 1950s-60s (based on design, even though I don\'t see an Eagle mark)
Condition: very good vintage with nice execution to a hip, modernist design, great patina and no flaws noted; I believe that the necklace was shortened at some point by taking one of the end links and cutting it in half (in the photo with the hallmarks you can see the soldering on the back of it); the intervention does not affect its beauty nor its wearability and the clasp works as it shouldThank you very much for your interest -please take a look atmyother itemsand make sure you add me to yourfavorites list!
