- Vintage Mid-Century Brazilian Black/White Topsy Turvy Doll

Here is a very unique doll from the late 1950s. Each portion of the doll has it\'s own style dress. I\'m not sure, but I believe the heads are wooden in back and some type of shell to make up the face itself. It\'s not porcelain, but some type of light weight wood maybe. I think the faces were hand painted. They both have cloth arms. The black portion of the doll has the least defects. She has a simple type of dress with multicolored stripes.

The white portion of the doll has quite a bit of damage. (See Condition below). She has a more elaborate dress that\'s blue and red with white decorations. Both dresses appear to be machine sewn. She also sports a basket weave hat with some material inside it. Both have beads for necklaces and earrings.

A really great conversation piece

I was told by the seller that they purchased it in Puerto Rico in the late \'50s.

CONDITION

Some very rough parts especially with the \"White head\" portion of the doll. Some of the coating of the face is chipped off. Her basket weave hat needs to be re-glued and most of her hair is missing. The dress and arms are in good shape. The \"Black head\" portion of the doll is in much better condition. Almost no chipping on the face and everything is attached nicely.
