Antique or vintage intricate engraved hammered brass, copper and silver Middle Eastern square tray with recessed medallion measuring approximately 13.5 inches. Signed on back El Zarif with unknown hallmark. Possibly of Persian Khurasan style or origin....the reason I say this is because there is an almost identical exampleon Pinterest that is at the Metropolitan Museum and identified as such...although dating from the 13th century. Google \"persian khorasan inlaid tray\" and it is first photo upper left. Weighs a substantial 2 pounds 11 ounces.
I lightly tested the silver which appears to test slightly positive.....turns bluish with my test acid but does not appear to be sterling....possibly a lesser quality silver content? Because I am unsure exact silver standard I am selling as inlaid silver alloy ( but can provide an up close detailed picture of test result if requested )
Good condition as described above with wear from age and normal use....areas of oxidation and tarnish.....would undoubtedly further benefit from light polishing or cleaning which I have not attempted. Please note very last photo taken with camera flash....if that is even remotely how would look when cleaned and polished then it\'s going to be very beautiful.....or fine with existing patina.
