Hello everyone, I\'m listing in this sale a very rare vintage original artwork by Vic Johnson circa 1964/65 (the cartoonist who worked for the Boston Herald) of Cassius Clay, aka Muhammad Ali and it depicts his upcoming fight with Sonny Liston and the text also mentions Floyd Patterson. It may have originally been donated to and saleed through WGBH (PBS) during a fundraising campaign. The original cartoon art is signed by the artist, and it\'s a great likeness of every character depicted. The Ali vs. Liston bout was one of the most anticipated fights in boxing history, and this cartoon captures Ali at his height of popularity. It\'s a great piece, it\'s classic sports memorabilia, and it\'s also a piece of black Americana all at once.
It has never been removed from the original frame that measures about 15\" x 15\", and it has issues along the bottom edge that looks like old water damage, but the overall original condition is pretty great. It has some tanning from the age of the piece, and it should be eventually removed from behind the glass to be cleaned, it was probably done on heavy gauge paper stock as are his other known works.
