For your consideration, an intriguing vintage painting of aChinese junk. This unsigned oil on canvas painting is almost identical to a1931 oil painting by Anton Otto Fischer (American, 1882-1962); in addition toidentical subject matter, both works display almost exact placement of figureswithin the composition, color palette, paint handling, and treatment of cloudsand background details. It is possible that this work was a study or similarbut unfinished work by Fischer, or, that the painting is a vintage copy of theoriginal by another artist. The age of the canvas appears to be of similarvintage to Fischer’s finished painting (see photos). The painting is in goodvintage condition and measures 24” x 18” and 28” x 22 ½” framed.
