I don\'t know much about this doll, or dolls in particular...I know it is old (belonged to an 81 year old man\'s mother), and the box they stored her in said \"French doll\"...which is why I have called her such, but I cannot find any markings on her (I cannot take her dress off). This appears to be composition to me, and her face, fingernails, and shoes are hand painted. This measures about 26\" long from head to toes. The head and shoulders are the composition, as is the arms and legs, the reast is stuffed fabric. The dress is in actually pretty good shape if you take all the torn lace off...most of the lace has ripped off any way and is just hanging on. The dress has little appliqued pastel colored flowers on it and I think, if cleaned, would look very nice (it is not horribly dirty, just been sitting in a box for 60+ years). One eye has lost all the paint to it, and the other one has a small spot missing. One thumb has been broken off and the stump is a little rough, and there is some very light paint loss to painted shoes, but otherwise, this is great condition!
