Turquoiseand Coral Sterling Silver Necklace

A large, natural blue turquoise gemstone with red coralsnake-eyes and sterling applique feather

are the center piece of thisunique, hand-crafted sterling silver choker.

Thegemstonesare hand polished and hand-set in a sterling silver bezel settings.

The turquoiseand coral pendantare displayed onthe hand-stamped 4 1/2\"center section

with a 4mm sterling curb chain necklace.

There are no makers marks or hallmarks except for theSTERLING stamp on the ring clasp.

Finely craftedby an unknown Native American artist, best guess is Navajo and probably Old Pawn.

It is not uncommon forOld Pawn pieces to bewithout hallmarks beforethe 1950\'s.

The end-to-end length of the necklace is 16 inches.

I will include a 2\" sterling silver extension upon request.

The necklaceis in exceptional, as-found condition.

Native American artisans have paired turquoise with red materials in jewelry for a long time.

It isa beautiful combination of color and contrast, rooted in symbolic meaning.

Coral is not found in any ocean of the Americas, therefore any \"red gold\"used in their jewelry

would have come to the Americas through trade or \"wampum\" (trade beads) after the

Spanish Conquistadors arrived in 1521. This bright red Mediterranean coral is rare today.

The necklace has not beencleaned or polished, but has been wiped off with a

jewelers rougebefore pictures were taken. Thenecklace retainsitsoriginal patina.

Asa vintage piece,it hasall the aspects of pre-owned jewelry, such asfine scratches,

light wear and tarnish. There are no major dents, dings or flaws unless noted.
