Vintage Oneida Community \"FOREVER\" Silverplate Flatware 37 Piece Set - Wood CaseHEAVY PLATEHCommunity Plate is plated to the highest standards of the Industry.BALANCED PLATE The front of Spoons, Forks and Serving Pieces of quality silverplate, if given ordinary care, will never wear thru...it is the back that gets the greatest wear. (On Knives the wear is equal on both surfaces.) So--every Spoon, Fork and Serving Piece of Community Plate has Balanced Plate, for it receives in the first all over plating 60% of the silver on the back and 40% on the front.
SPECIAL REINFORCEMENT Spoons, Forks and Serving Pieces need extra reinforcement where the bowl or tines rest on the table--just as stockings need reinforcement on the heel. So--after the piece is plated All-over, every Spoon, Fork and Serving Pieces of Community Plate is reinforced by a second extra plate of pure silver or Overlay, on this \"area of greatest wear.\" This Overlay covers completely the \"area of greatest wear\" on each piece, and is thick enough to last as long as the silver on the rest of the piece.
I am selling this beautiful \"FOREVER\" Pattern set for a dear friend who recently inherited it from her mother.It was a tough decision not to keep the set for myself!
