Pentti Sarpaneva, was originally a Graphics Designer who began making jewelry in the l950\'s in Finland. His outrageous designs were not readily accepted by the public at that time. In the l960\'s and l970\'s he began designing his jewelry with a distinct theme of rough surfaces and natural materials. Working in bronze, he patinated his pieces of jewelry which gave him the look that is associated with his name and style today.
