Gold Caps
This is a vintage 1940’s Parker51 fountain pen and pencil set in their original box.
Both have gold filled capswith brassing around the rims and on the sides of the pencil cap. They havearrow clips and pearl jewels; and both have “H. Denton” engraved on the rimbands.
The barrels are black andare free of scratches or teeth marks.
The pen is a vac filler andhas been fitted with a new brass vac mechanism with a new sac installed. It nowworks properly.
The nib is a medium pointand is very smooth.
The pencil has been filledwith lead and works as it should.
In 1939, Parker settled on the Blue Diamond to denote itslifetime guarantee. The Blue Diamond clip looks like the Star clip except thatthe star has been replaced by a blue-enameled diamond. The Blue Diamond clip was applied to pens priced at $8.75 and higher,and it continued in use until 1948, when the Vacumatic was retired fromParker’s product line. In about 1947, in response to a ruling by the U.S.Federal Trade Commission,Parkerbegan shipping pens bearing clips that still bore the diamond design butwithout the blue enameling, as is the case with this set.
The original leather box isin really good condition for its age.
