Greetings from South Florida ~ Here we offer for your consideration ~ A TRUE Vintage ~INCA BLACK~Lacquered Copper CENSOR W/Stirling SILVER WIRACOCHA God/deities. This piece was purchased by a late relative, at a Gallery In LIMA, Peru in the late 1960,s. The previous owner believed that the censor was quite rare. The gallery owner said, that the Peruvian artist only made 4 of each piece she created and was a descendant of the INCA,S, being a 12th generation of her families lineage. This censor is NO.#4. A small note stating all of the info above & a photo they took of the artist will be included with the censor to the winning buyer! There are 4 SOLID Sterling SILVER(925)INCA gods that are facing one another, that circle the censor. On each side there is a loop handle that has a Greco-step design that is chased in brass or bronze. There are 4 STOUT legs that the censor sets upon. There is also a greco-step design that borders just below the rim of the censor. On the bottom is the STERLING SILVER mark, a makers mark, The PERU mark, and a fourth mark that is the artist name that I can NOT decipher.The INCA deities are all holding some sort of staff & look to be in a ceremonial dance that obviously has significance culturally or religiously. In VERY good, well taken care of condition. There are NO dents, breaks, cracks, missing trim or chasing, heavy scratches. There is a patina that has developed naturally with age and handling. Mild oxidation has occurred in some areas. Displays beautifully & sits FLUSH when placed upon a flush surface, and has NO wiggle! A REALLY great, RARE, Peruvian Artist Made Black Lacquered, Copper & Stirling Silver Censor to add to your own collection of ethnographic TREASURES!
