Gorgeous piece of pottery made in England, with brass tightener. One of the most beautiful like this I have seen.
The jar locks down with a brass three spoke and screw system. The spokes rest in indentions at the rim, then slide around in a groove. The brass screw is gently turned down to secure the lid.
The bottom is impressed ENGLAND and Aonian REG D Made in England stamped in ink/glaze.
The jar is in beautiful condition with a gorgeous cobalt glaze at the top, a raised beaded pattern runs around the jar separating the blue from the textured putty-colored bottom. This is embossed with white flowers and leaves, painted in glaze. Please see photos. There is some blue glaze on the putty color, but this was part of the making process, and is original to the humidor. The vessel is crafted of pottery and brass only, no rubber.
