You arelooking at a rare 1950\'s era Electro VoiceV-3 \"Velocity\"Ribbonmicrophone with adjustable impedance settings and is currently in working condition. This was the most expensive and rarest velocity ribbon mic in the E.V \"V\" series.
The V-3 series is about 3 times the size of the much smaller V-1 produced by Electro Voice. This V-3 measures 8 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide. The original painted body shows very lite wear as seen in the pictures provided in the form of tiny chipped paint and small scratches. The E.V label looks fantastic though...brand new really. The V-3 sits on it\'s original painted yoke / swivel and it works perfectly. Tightens nicely and keeps the mic at the desired angle. No wear on the chrome tightening screws and chrome accent pieces. Both front and rear chrome screens are free of any serious tarnishing and there are zero dents which is always a bonus. All original components including original screws.
As you can see in pic # 4 this is a true ribbon V series mic. many of these were altered by Electro voice when they were brought in to be serviced. E.V replaced the ribbons with dynamic elements which was a pretty dirty practice but many of these V series mics are not actually ribbon mics. This mic has the original components but the ribbon is seriously sagging so the signal is weaker and too has too much bass. I know just the gentleman who can do this for a very reasonable price if you are interested in having a studio quality mic in which to use. Just ask for details and i\'ll fill you in. Otherwise, this V-3 will make a very nice display / prop piece to use for any occasion. The good news is that the impedance switch and mechanism is still completely intact and works perfectly.
Once this mic is fixed with a new ribbon you\'ll be able to adjust the sound you like with that impedance switch on the rear of the mic. It has 4 individual settings. I\'m also including the original cable connector that you\'ll need to build a custom cable of choice.
The On / Off switch slides smooth and works perfectly.
The threading for the stand is perfect. Nothing stripped. Mic is solid with no loose parts.Thismic would do any vintage microphone collection justice. Cosmetically it\'s an 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...
