You are looking at a very nice and rare TurnerS98 model dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1950\'s. This deco styled piece with painted finish and metal grills makes this one of the most unique microphones ever produced by Turner or any mic manufacturer for that matter. A radical, modern look for it\'s time and only produced for a few short years. As you can see in the pics provided this mic tilts backwards up to 90 degrees if needed? The original dynamic cardioid element in this piece has been tested and is working at 100% signal. The S98 mic with it\'s ON / OFF switch makes it very practical for every day use.
The dynamic cardioid was a huge improvement in sound quality as well. rated at 200 OHMS it\'s Low Z and sounds very nice for broadcasting or singing if you choose. A very similar sound to the E.V 664 microphone.
The finish shows just a few small nicks and chips. very minor considering it\'s age. I would rate this mic an easy 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10 and a very nice to use or simply to display among your other fine vintage microphones.
The threading for both the stand and cable are perfect...no issues. The original cable was shot but the connector will be included with the microphone so building your own custom cable will be a breeze.
It should be noted that the switch slides smooth and works exactly as it should. Joint mechanism holds firm as well.
The look of this Turner S98 will look great anywhere it sits in the home, office or studio. An instant conversation piece. You\'re lucky to see maybe 3 or 4 of these pop up on in an entire year.
