You are looking at a unique and somewhat rare Atlas desk stand (DS-9) from the 1960\'s with a heavy, wide cast iron base and Stainless steel cover. This was a very high quality desk stand that was far superior to many of the chrome desk stands that had a tendency to corrode easier than stainless steel.
Pic # 2 is from a 1966 advertisement showing the stand and it\'s basic specs.
Sadly the cover on this stand was seriously corroded so I had to sand it down and paint it the color it is. It\'s a hammered brown that\'s almond in color. The cover still comes off of course.
The DS-9 has an ultra modern and sleek design with an all metal body that makes it both rugged and stable. It has a 4 inch riser and an extremely wide base which is perfect for microphones such as the Electro Voice 664 microphone or any other top heavy microphone that you don\'t want tipping over. The top heavy 664 mics are prone to tipping on a regular desk stand.
The base itself is appx 8 inches wide X 5 inches tall. It has 6 new felt pads that keep this stand from scratching your surfaces. The originals were well worn or missing. The 5 pound cast iron base is covered in a gorgeous stainless steel cover that\'s free of any heavy scratches, dents or engravings. This stand is 100% complete and makes a nice addition to any vintage mic collection.
It should be noted that these stands can take an Atlas riser if you need additional height. I have some for sale if needed. Just another $20.00 if you\'d like one?
