Here is a vintage toy that is cosmetically in mint condition, still in box. It is an OLD RADIO REX TYPE toy named \"SPARKY\". REX was said to be \"THE WORLDS 1ST VOICE RECOGNITION TOY\". I assume that \"voice recognition\" is stretching it but if you read online about it, it says the magnet is an electromagnet and the \"bridge\" in the circuit is set to a certain resonance to coincide with the dogs name. Way over my head. In any event, we could not get the magnet to hold the lever: perhaps the lever is bent a little or something. Everything looks great. It had a battery in it and we took a photo of it with a battery but it will not be shipped with a battery because of postal rules. It seems like a simple enough operation, a spring type metal piece that looks like a lever is to be held by an electromagnet and a sound will cause the spring to release. We also have a \"RADIO REX\" listed and his last patent date on bottom of dog house is 1922. This one looks to be a little more recent. The box identifies it as A BYRON PRODUCT Distributed by Green Industries of ILL, Inc. There is also a sheet with simple directions. The box doubles as a bank for the child and has a place to push in as a coin slot.
