Hello my name is John. I restore, recondition vintage microphones for display, prop and functional use. I am offering this 1940\'s era Electro Voice 640 dynamic microphone with vintage 1960\'sAtlas standfor display or prop purposes. When cable tested the only sound was from the transformer so it is safe to say the element is dead. The 640 is one that most collectors will tell you truly does not come up for sale very often. Even on E bay you will be lucky to see 5 or 6 a year available. This example is in above average condition with the chrome holding up well with the typical pitting and scratches from 70 plus years. I know it was in an indoor Environment the past several years and that is all I know on it\'s history. I have seen one other in person and the other one had a solid arm on the yoke where the side screws are attached to as this one has the main strip down the middle with 2 small bars on each side. The side screws are nice and tight for setting the angle of the microphone and the threading and front label are clear. No broken or missing pieces on the microphone. The head is a beast and carries some weight. If you are looking for a vintage microphone that is not very common to find, this is one for consideration that is in above average cosmetic condition for this model and age.
